Participants burned significantly more calories during the interval training program on the Max Trainer compared to steady-state exercise on the treadmill, stepper and elliptical (p<0.001, one-way within-subjects ANOVA).

During the interval training program, which included approximately 8 minutes of rest and less than 3 minutes of work, subjects on the Max Trainer burned 96 calories on average. In comparison, for 3 minutes of continuous moderate exercise, subjects burned 22 calories on the elliptical.
